Why people like it
Smaller and closer than Had Draa, Ida Ougourd is the market of the argan hills just behind Essaouira. Farmers bring goats, grain, honey and oil; the whole thing fits in a morning and still feels untouched. A good choice if Sunday does not fit your dates.
What you can do
- Browse the produce and animal sections of a working village market.
- Buy argan oil and amlou from the people who make them.
- Breakfast on msemen and tea at a market stall.
- Continue to an argan cooperative or the Ounagha vineyard for the afternoon.
Good to know
Wednesday mornings only
Wednesday only, morning. Very few foreign visitors: dress modestly, ask before photos.
How it works
- You choose the date, the departure time and the return time. Nothing is fixed in advance.
- Your driver takes you there, waits for you on site and brings you back. You visit at your own pace, no guide, no group.
- We reply with one price for the car, whatever the number of passengers it carries. You pay the driver on the day.
