Why people like it
North of Essaouira the coast turns wild. Moulay Bouzerktoun is a handful of houses, a white marabout on the rocks and a bay with waves and wind strong enough to host international windsurf and kitesurf events. Even if you never touch a board, the spectacle from the beach is worth the drive.
What you can do
- Watch, or join, the windsurfers and kitesurfers (local schools rent gear and teach).
- Eat fish straight off the boats at the village café.
- Walk the cliffs and coves north of the village.
- Visit the marabout and the small fishing harbour.
- Pair with the Ounagha vineyard or an argan cooperative on the way back.
Good to know
Windiest spot on this coast: great for sport, bring a windbreaker for the rest of the party.
